The poets own poetry is what he does best and if that content is not appropriate then it will probably be a disaster!!
But the poet can also write and adapt poetry to suit an occassion.

The Golf CourseAchieving our goals
Is so full of holes
Like a golf course
That never endsA hole in one
Or stuck in the rough
10 meter putt
Or a bunker that’s toughIt makes no difference
How we get to the hole
There’s another one waiting
For the ball to rollWhat if the goal
Was to have no goal
To walk off the course
And be free of the holeWhat then I ask
Should I do with myself
No hand in the game
On destiny’s shelfFree will be
my mind at ease
To discover that life
Is not clubs and teas
